Snakes are elongated, legless, carnivorous reptiles. There are different types snakes found in across the globe. More then 3,000 snake species that exist in the world, about 600 are venomous. A snakebite is caused by the bite of a snake sometimes poisoning from the bite may occur, that will make redness, swelling, and severe pain at the area, Vomiting, trouble seeing, tingling of the limbs, and sweating may result of snakebites. India reporting most snakebites other than any country. All snakebite deaths in India traditionally been attributed to the Russell’s viper, Indian cobra, saw-scaled viper, and the common krait. Regions of Kerala, India responsible for nearly 10% of venomous bites. According to the calculations at least 81,000 snake envenomings and 11,000 fatalities occur in India each year.

 Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka reporting second largest snakebites. The saw-scaled viper considered as highly venomous snake in Sri Lanka. Almost 65% of victims had evidence of local envenoming at the site of the bite and around 29% showed spontaneous bleeding and 71% had coagulopathy.  In Sri Lanka, around 33,000 envenomed snake bite victims are reported government hospitals annually. around 40% of bites are caused by the Russell’s viper, while 35% are caused by the Indian cobra in Sri Lanka.

Viet Nam

Viet Nam also reporting most snakebites and over 30 of Vietnam’s 140 snake species are poisonous. Around 30,000 humans are bitten by snakes in Vietnam every year. Vietnam has world’s deadliest snakes such as asian cobras, king cobras, coral snakes, kraits, and numerous vipers and pit vipers.


Snakebites are the major health problem in brazil and they are reporting most snakebites in every year. around329,180 cases registered at the Brazilian Information System on Diseases of Compulsory for a period of 12 years(2001-2012). The state of Pará reporting the highest number of cases (5,317). The Pit Viper,  Tree Viper and Rattle Snake are mainly found in Brazil.


Mexico also reporting most snakebites and it is estimated to have at least 28,000 snakebites annually. Mexico has over 60 different species of Coral Snakes, all venomous, all bite, some can kill. Coral snakes are one of the top five most poisonous snakes in the world. Mexican Black Kingsnake, Coral Snakes, Rattlers and Shovel-Nosed Snake are some of the snakes found in Mexico.
