Kawasaki Ninja Z250 SL
Kawasaki Ninja Z250 SL launched recently in Malaysia. This is a naked sports bike from Kawasaki based on the new single cylinder Ninja 250. The previously available, Kawasaki Ninja 250R now discontinued production and replaced with 300cc big machine from Ninja series. Kawasaki Ninja 250R first introduced in India during 1983. This super hot quarter-litre entry level sports motorcycle was a big success for Kawasaki after its launch in India by 2008. Now the focus of The Japanese manufacturer is on 250cc bikes.
Price and Lunch Date
Kawasaki Ninja Z250 SL is a 250cc entry level sports motorcycle with rich features and specifications. Recently, the company has launched the bike in Malaysia at a price tag of 15,397 Malaysian Ringgi. When it comes to India, the price will be around Rs 2.9 lakh. The expected launch date is around 2015 starting.
KTM 390 Duke is the main rival for the bike. It is available with 375cc single-cylinder and features ABS. The price is quiet attractive and it is only Rs 1.81 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) while comparing with the Kawasaki Ninja Z250 SL. Honda CBR300R is another rival to this bike.
Engine, Gears and Performance
Power pack of the Kawasaki Ninja Z250 SL is a 250cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled fuel injected engine. It can churns out 27.6 bhp of power and 22.6Nm of torque on ride. Engine features tubular steel with a diamond pattern chassis. It is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox and a chain drive.
Dimensions and Features
The bike offers kerb weight of 148 kilogram. Kawasaki Ninja Z250 SL street bike is lighter than its faired cousin. The bike is really suitable for beginners, as it comes with lower seat height of 785mm. The revised handlebar ensures good handling. There is a chiseled, single unit headlamp at front, sculpted fuel tank with shrouds, exposed trellis frame add muscle to offers overall aggressive look. You can see stylish tail section with exhaust and the Y-spoke wheels.
Brakes and Suspension
The bike gets petal type disc brakes on both wheels. Brakes used in front wheel is a 290mm disc while the rear gets a 220mm disc for good braking. There is front suspension consists of telescopic forks. Kawasaki Ninja Z250 SL gets rear suspension with a single mono shock with five preload levels.
Kawasaki Ninja Z250 SL is an ideal city motorcycle for those people like to have a sports bike riding experience every day without much concern about mileage. The higher price is the downside of this bike. Kawasaki also plans to launch company’s current road going Ninja 300 and naked version of the Ninja 650 as ER-6N in India.
