India Government is going to launch a master application, which has been addressed as ‘Mother of all App’. 200+ services offered by Central Govt., State Govt. and Local Govt will consolidate by this single app and offer them under one single platform.
This idea has coming from the Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, under the National e-governance Division (NeGD) and it is termed as Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance(UMANG). Official from NeGD said that “Everyone is carrying a smartphone and using the internet on mobile. So we want to provide services wherever the citizens are”.
Through this application users will be able to get these multiple services in 13 languages from a centralized mobile app and no need to wait at government offices. For users without smartphones also access these facility through SMS and a single toll-free number.
UMANG will give 50 major services on-board by the end of this year itself. 70 new services will add on in the second year and rest will be add in third year.
Some of the services which can be introduced under UMANG are as foloows.
National scholarship, Healthcare applications, Passport Seva, Women Safety (Nirbhaya), E-Post, Crime and criminal tracking, Network and systems, Commercial tax/GST, Income tax, CBSE/State education boards, E-Municipality, IRCTC, Utility bills, Mother and child tracking, Public distribution system, Transport – Vahan/Sarathi, e-Court, m-Kisan, Land records and PF/NPS.
