Ducati Scrambler Icon Review
Ducati Scrambler Icon is a super naked street bike from Ducati. Ducati Scrambler range includes 4 famous models:- Icon, Urban Enduro, Full Throttle and Classic. Among this Ducati Scrambler Icon is the first one coming to India. Kawasaki Z800 and Triumph Street Triple are the main rivals for the bike in India.
The bike will explore at the 2014 World Ducati Week in Italy, on July 18 and will go on sale in Europe by early 2015. All the above mentioned 4 models are internationally available. The will launch soon in India around 2015 and may priced around Rs. 8 Lakh. This 800cc sports bike available in black with red or yellow color combination to choose.
What Makes Ducati Scrambler Icon Special ?
On external the bike appears to be a retro bike, but claims it is definitely not a retro classic. Ducati Scrambler Icon on external gets dual sports tires. 10 spoke alloys with 18″ in front and 17″ at rear for high class safety and stability on ride.
Fuel tank gets beautiful aluminium covers and there is also aluminum belt covers and heat covers. Round head light with LED ring is quiet appealing. You have a high and wide handle bar. The bike features aluminium stripe under seat, passenger grab rail and Standard ABS brakes.
Engine and Performance
Ducati Scrambler Icon powered by a L-Twin, Desmodromic distribution, 2 valves per cylinder, air cooled engine. It features 803 cc displacement and can makes 88 mm bore and 66 mm stroke. 11:1 is the compression ratio of this bike. Engine can churns out 74 Bhp @ 8250 rpm power and 68 Nm @ 5750 rpm torque on ride. Cooling type is Air.
Engine mated to 6-Speed gears transmission. It features Electronic fuel injection fuel system and Exhaust system with single stainless steel muffler, aluminium silencer cover, catalytic converter and 2 lambda probes exhaust. The bike is based on Euro 3 emission standard. Other features are APTC wet multiplate with mechanical control clutch and Tubular steel Trellis frame.
Brakes and Suspension
Ducati Scrambler Icon packed with good brakes and suspension offer. It gets 330 mm disc, radial 4-piston calliper with ABS as standard equipment in front brakes and 245 mm disc, 1-piston floating calliper with ABS as standard equipment at rear for best class stability. Suspension used is Upside down Kayaba 41 mm fork in front and Kayaba rear shock, pre-load adjustable at rear. Front and rear Wheel Travel is 150 mm.
Dimensions and Capacities
The bike packed with alloy wheels. You have front wheels with 10-spoke in light alloy, 3.00″ x 18″ dimensions and rear wheel with 10-spoke in light alloy, 5.50″ x 17″ dimensions. Front tires measures Pirelli MT 60 RS 110/80 ZR18 and rear tire measures Pirelli MT 60 RS 180/55 ZR17.
Ducati Scrambler Icon gets 1445 mm Wheelbase, 13.5 litres Fuel Tank Capacity, 170 kg Dry Weight, 790 mm Seat Height etc. It measures 2100-2165 mm Length, 845 mm width and 1150 mm height. 186 kg is the kerb weight of Ducati Scrambler Icon.
Features and Options
The instrument cluster gets Tachometer, Trip Meter, fuel gauge, digital clock, odo meter and speedo meter. The tear drop steal fuel tank measures 13.5 ltrs. There is a beautiful LCD dashboard with interchangeable aluminium cover. Low seat of 790mm is also beneficial for perfect riding comfort. The bike features under seat USB and new tech LED tail light.
